If you are looking for that unique personal drum then why not get Feather Song Drums to custom build one for you?
You don't have to decide on all the design details 'up-front' as many of the finer details are 'worked through' with you throughout the build.
Cost:
The price of custom built drums vary according to the materials needed as well as the  complexity of the build. Prices typically range from $400 (NZ) upwards.
Sizes:
I usually only build custom drums in 16" diameter however I am able to offer 14.5" drum frames . The depth of each frame may vary and is roughly 2.5" to 3" deep.
Frame Options:
I currently offer a range of veneer finishes on the frames. These are subject to availability. Veneers include: Fijian Kauri; Rewarewa/Silky Oak; Rimu; Black Walnut; Black Wood; Black Bean and Tawa (Dirty Tawa). Other veneers may be sourced should you have a specific request but these are subject to availability.

Skins / Vellum:
All Feather Song Drums are skinned with high quality goat skins. These are either 'white' or 'natural'. As the skins are natural products there will always be variations in colour,  'grain' and thickness.

Handle:
I typically use soft round braided cording for the woven handles. One can choose black; dark brown, light (caramel) brown. Colours may be subject to availability.
A range of woven designs are available and I am able to fulfill 'most' requests. I can inset beads or leave long threads for you to add your own 'talismans'.

Lacing:
This is typically one of the last details to be decided on and added to the drum. At this point in a build I send you LOADS of pictures of the range of lacing.
